Field Day 2016

I would like to start by thanking Brian AG6CF for leading the effort for the Palomar Amateur Radio Club Field Day this year. Having a new field day chair provided a breath of fresh air for the club with some great new ideas and a sigh of relief for the former field day chair. Brian did a great job.

YUMA had a Hamfest

YUMA had a Hamfest

On Thursday, a group left Oceanside for the Yuma Hamfest. Leaving at the designated hour brought on the usual go to work traffic. Use of side streets proved that the go to work traffic has many challenges to avoid, so we went back to the main freeway, I-5 South. As we were heading southeast the traffic got better as we got to Mira Mesa Road. Travel on this trip went well and easy. Yuma is getting closer. Along the way, we came across a Highway Patrol unit. No, he did not provide guidance or an escort out of California.

The Amateur Radio Tower Trailer Team visited the Yuma Ham Fest this year. ARTTT members Dennis Baca KD6TUJ, Conrad Lara KG6JEI, and Greg Gibbs KI6RXX had a great time demonstrating the Work of ARTTT Homeless Shelter to the amateur radio community and public that were in attendance. The ARTTT station was the only setup in attendance with HF capabilities utilizing a Yagi style Antenna. ARRL Southwestern Division Section Manager Dick Norton N6AA, had a chance to come operate at our booth and make some contacts on 20M CW.
